Who Are We?

The Richmond Potters' Club is a non-profit community organization which brings together a diverse group of potters whose goals are to develop their artisan skills and promote ceramic arts in Richmond.

We work in partnership with the city to provide adult pottery classes to the public.

We contribute to the community by donating our pottery to charitable organizations who use it to further their initiatives.

The Richmond Potters’ Club participates in community events such as Culture Days and also hosts two large pottery sales each year in April and November.

To date, we have over 120 members who share a passion for making pottery and volunteer their time to make the Richmond Potters' Club successful.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ - General - Richmond Potters' Club
I have a collection of ceramics that needs to be disposed of. Can you help?
We do not currently offer ceramics or clay recycling.

Because ceramics don’t break down, the best course of action is to donate ceramics in good condition. Thrift stores, charity shops, local community centers, or shelters are good options to explore.

Broken ceramics can find new life as mosaic art or be used as drainage layers in larger planters.

Ceramics that cannot be reused or recycled can be disposed of with your regular household waste. They are not recyclable.
I am looking to purchase broken, glazed pottery pieces. Do you sell these?
We do not sell broken, glazed pieces of pottery.
How much do you charge for kiln firing? Can I pay you to have my work fired? (non-member)
Members pay a nominal fee, based on size, to fire their wares. We do not currently offer firing for non-members.
What clay do you use during class?
We are currently using Laguna B-Mix clay in our classes. This is a midfire, stoneware clay body.
What cone do you fire to?
We are a mid-fire studio, and our kiln fires to Cone 5.
