Why Become a Member?

​For over 50 years, the Richmond Potters’s Club has fostered a welcoming community where potters of all levels share their passion and knowledge, in a supportive and creative environment.

​Becoming a member of the Richmond Potters' Club offers numerous benefits, including:
  • Sharing the love of pottery with fellow enthusiasts.
  • Access to members-only open studio hours.
  • Use of members-only glazes.
  • Participation in members-only events like Raku and Pottery Sales.
  • Exclusive workshops and classes.

Membership Requirements

To become a member of the Richmond Potters' Club, you must meet the following requirements for eligibility and be a member in good standing by actively participating in our community.

  • Have completed adult pottery classes with the Richmond Potters' Club
  • Demonstrate sufficient knowledge, skills, and independence to work in an open studio setting.

Responsiblities:

  • Pay an annual membership fee of $250 (September to August).
  • Participate in the studio clean-up program.
  • Complete one of the volunteer jobs.
  • Attend at least 3 general meetings per year.
  • Support our community donation program.
  • Provide your own clay and tools.
  • Adhere to our code of ethics, safety precautions, and studio rules as outlined in our studio handbook.
Please note: The Richmond Potters' Club studio facilities are not set up for production pottery.

How can I become a member? Is there a waitlist?
To apply to become a member of the Richmond Potters’ Club, contact our team with information about your experience with pottery. You will be added to the waitlist. Prospective members will be notified, in the order they reached out, via email when space becomes available.
I have taken classes offered by Richmond Potters’ Club, can I join the club now?
If you have taken classes with the Richmond Potters’ Club and have shown enough knowledge, skills, and independence to work in an open studio setting, you are eligible to apply for membership. Membership is on a first-come, first-served basis, and there is usually a waitlist, so you may not be able to join right now. Reach out to get on the waitlist.
What are the requirements for joining the club as a member?
You must be able to demonstrate enough knowledge, skills, and independence to work in an open studio setting. Contact us to express interest - be sure to let us know where you have taken classes in the past and what your experience level is.
I am on the member waitlist. What is my position on the waitlist?
We are unable to tell you what your position is on the waitlist or to estimate the wait time for membership. Once a spot opens up, someone from our team will get in touch with you about the next steps.
I took a class a long time ago (10+ years), am I eligible to join the club as a member?
Yes, you are still eligible to join, provided you can still demonstrate that you have enough knowledge, skills, and independence to work in an open studio setting.
I have taken classes at other community centers and/or am experienced in pottery. Can I join the club?
Yes, you are still eligible to join provided you can still demonstrate that you have enough knowledge, skills, and independence to work in an open studio setting.
Do I have to wait and join in September for the year? Can I join now at a prorated fee?
Please apply to become a member of the Richmond Potter’s Club by contacting us. You will be added to our waitlist and offered a space as availability arises. If a space becomes available before our usual September intake, the full annual membership fee will be required. We are a nonprofit organization and our fees support our facility and community, and we are unable to offer prorated fees.
